Meeting – 05/28/16

Posted on: May 28, 2016

Meeting Summary;
A meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Office of the North Shores Board of Governors, following the Annual Meeting for North Shores property owners. The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m. Present at the meeting were: President Wilson; Secretary Debbie Director; ARC Head Paul Salditt; Treasurer Helen Hoart and newly elected board member Louisa Hollman.

The first item of business was the assignment of Board positions. After a brief discussion, a motion was made and unanimously approved, to retain Bruce Wilson as President of the Board. It was agreed that Louisa Hollman would become the new Vice President to replace Mary Haverback whose term had expired. The remaining Board members will retain their current positions.

The Board discussed items presented earlier that morning at the Annual Meeting, as well new business brought to their attention by homeowners. It was brought to the Boards’ attention that the playground that currently serves the neighborhood requires updating. Due to the advanced age and condition of the equipment, some will require replacement and the addition of new equipment will also be needed. President Wilson outlined to the Board different options for replacing the current storage shed with a garage to be used for equipment and vehicle storage as well as their maintenance. The existing storage shed currently shares an area with the playground, kayak racks and a dumpster. Enlarging the garage to accommodate the growing inventory of beach equipment and vehicle storage may require relocating the playground or the garage, and possibly the dumpster to an area adjacent to the pool along S. Rodney Street. The Board agreed to seek the assistance of a professional site planner for guidance on future placement of those community items. The new building will be designed attractively as a garage, not as a shed, and will be an asset to the community in form and function. When completed, the site plan and placement of those items will be presented to the HOAs representing the North Shores Villas, before a final decision regarding location is made.

Homeowners at the Annual Meeting requested consideration by the Board to limit smoking on the North Shores beach. After a discussion by the Board, it was agreed that President Wilson will send a letter to homeowners requesting input on the matter before a decision is made.

Treasurer Hoart reported on the collection of the special assessment that was used for beach and dune repairs this year.
