President Wilson informed the Board about security changes that would become effective at the north end of the neighborhood in conjunction with the inauguration of President Elect Biden on January 20, 2021. The United States Secret Service have advised North Shores they anticipate an increase in the level of security, most likely an expansion to the perimeter boundaries, during the summer months. Increased signage discouraging intrusions by non-residents and the possibility of serpentine barriers on certain entrance roads, are under consideration. Board member Evan Thalenberg recommended review of the proposed signs before they are made.
The next item on the agenda, presented by Community Executive, James Allen, addressed the search for a new beach club manager. Mr. Allen summarized details of meetings he recently had with the prospective candidate. Mr. Allen outlined for the Board, leadership, training and organizational changes that would be recommended and implemented, based on the candidate’s 30 years of experience, if he were employed by North Shores. Mr. Allen commented on the candidate’s serious attitude and was impressed with his comprehensive evaluation of our community beach and pool management needs. President Wilson commented on the significant amount of interest in the club manager position now that Mrs. Brown’s retirement was more widely known in the local lifeguarding community. He recommended the Board interview the candidate in person as soon as possible so a decision could be made.
ARC was the next item on the agenda. President Wilson informed the board about the interest by a member of the community to join the ARC.
President Wilson informed the Board the holiday bonuses had already been distributed and did not need to be approved by the Board.
In other business, Community Executive, James Allen, will be working remotely over the winter. Details on the logistics had already been discussed with the Board. In his absence, Jeff Sellman, will be working in the office part time until James returns.
The meeting was adjourned.
